Upper Quad North Residence Hall is a five-story space dedicated to the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, replacing the historic Femoyer Hall. Rooted in the Collegiate Gothic style, the residence hall provides durable, sustainable housing for 299 cadets while maintaining a strong connection to campus traditions.

Wells shaped the exterior, integrating Hokie Stone, punched windows, and detailed concrete elements inspired by cadet uniforms. These features reinforced the space’s architectural continuity and long-term durability while reducing maintenance needs. Achieving LEED Silver certification, the residence hall demonstrates how Wells can deliver a resilient, functional, and aesthetically cohesive space ready to serve generations of cadets.
