Published in Medical Design & Construction, Dan Stenzel from Wells and Emily Johns and Ann H. Adams from Davis Partnership explore how prefabrication is transforming healthcare construction.

Healthcare projects demand safety, flexibility, and advanced performance, all while staying on tight schedules and budgets. Prefabricated building systems are helping design and construction teams meet these requirements by moving critical work off-site, reducing complexity, and improving predictability.

Integrated wall and facade systems accelerate construction, streamline site logistics, and provide high-performance solutions that are durable, adaptable, and easier to maintain. At the same time, prefabrication enables virtually unlimited design options, allowing healthcare facilities to combine efficiency with bold, patient-focused aesthetics.

Early collaboration, digital tools, and factory-built assemblies position healthcare facilities to meet today’s challenges while preparing for evolving patient, provider, and community needs.
