Built for the City

The Printing House Hotel, part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, is now open in downtown Nashville. The 11-story downtown Nashville hotel offers nearly 200 guest rooms along with ground-level retail, a restaurant and lounge, and a rooftop pool overlooking the city skyline. Located just blocks from the Ryman Auditorium, the hotel places guests in the center of Music City while providing a comfortable retreat within a dense urban setting.

Wells partnered early with the project team to translate the hotel’s architectural vision into a high-performing, buildable envelope. The regular stacking of guest rooms informed a repeatable panel strategy that supported efficiency while preserving the intended vertical and horizontal ribbed patterns across the facade. Angled panel projections introduce variation and depth, while two concrete colors and finishes differentiate the lower levels from the guestroom tower above, reinforcing clarity and cohesion across the building.

By integrating insulated architectural precast wall panels with factory-installed glazing, Wells helped the team achieve a unitized façade system that reduced on-site labor, minimized scaffolding, and improved schedule certainty — critical in a fast-moving, urban construction environment. This approach accelerated enclosure, enabling interior construction to begin sooner while maintaining quality and safety.

Sustainability and performance were core to the building strategy. The panels create a continuous thermal envelope that limits air infiltration and moderates heat transfer, while the thermal mass of the concrete enhances interior comfort and energy efficiency. Factory-installed glazing ensures consistent performance across openings, contributing to a quieter and more comfortable guest experience.

Through design-assist collaboration, Wells refined master mold layouts to limit form counts, reduce material waste, and streamline manufacturing — all while preserving the desired architectural variation. The result is a façade system that balances efficiency, durability, and environmental responsibility without compromising design intent.

With its textured elevations, integrated glazing, and high-performing precast system, The Printing House Hotel demonstrates how Wells partners with project teams to deliver long-term value, elevate expectations, and support the creation of hospitality destinations that enhance their urban surroundings.
