Big Build. Seamless Experience.

The 7-story Baptist Medical Center Parking Structure Lot A in Jacksonville, FL, is a purpose-driven space that supports the hospital’s busy downtown campus. Wells partnered with the design team to deliver the prefabricated garage system, ensuring precision, performance, and architectural quality throughout the project.

Completed in just five months in 2017, the garage accommodates more than 2,100 vehicles across six elevated levels and integrates three stair towers and a triple elevator tower. Wells’ early involvement allowed coordination of oversized components and unique design elements — ensuring optimized spacing, smooth installation, and a functional, safe environment for patients and staff.

The prefabricated systems were carefully designed for durability and visual consistency. Architectural finishes and detailing created a cohesive, well-lit environment across the large footprint, enhancing both usability and aesthetic appeal. Off-site construction and meticulous planning allowed Wells to streamline delivery and installation, overcoming site constraints and permitting limitations while keeping the project on schedule.

Challenges were addressed early and often through close coordination among all parties. Despite a hurricane and other weather delays, the Wells team adapted quickly, ensuring the project was completed ahead of schedule.

“Our design team and our clients are very pleased with the result of their precast product on this unique parking structure,” said Clyde “Ted” Moore III, AIA, FreemanWhite, A Haskell Company.

“These items required special detailing and attention in the manufacture of each piece. All were implemented extremely well by Wells. We were also particularly pleased with the color and smooth consistency of the underside of the tees, which provides a smooth surface and amplifies lighting distribution. This makes for a very well-lit garage even with its rather large footprint,” he added.

Through collaboration, expertise, and innovative prefabrication, Wells helped bring this space to life — delivering a functional, efficient, and enduring facility that serves the hospital community for years to come.
