A Symbol of Justice

The Justice A. A. Birch Building is a six-story civic space serving Tennessee’s 20th Judicial District. Designed to clearly separate public, judicial, and secure functions, the space balances safety, functionality, and architectural dignity while reinforcing Nashville’s civic identity and the role of justice within the community.

Wells partnered with the design team to support the exterior expression of the courthouse. A prefabricated building facade system was developed to achieve the visual character of limestone while supporting long-term performance and reduced maintenance. Through a systems-based approach, Wells helped translate architectural intent into a cohesive facade that strengthens the space’s civic presence.
