Fast Track Performance

Audi Field is a 20,000-seat, soccer-specific stadium that anchors the revitalization of Washington, D.C.’s Buzzard Point neighborhood and serves as the home of D.C. United and the Washington Spirit. Delivered on an accelerated design-build schedule, the stadium opened on time and within its design and construction budget, demonstrating how disciplined planning, early collaboration, and advanced building systems can align vision, performance, and delivery certainty.

Constructed on a constrained urban site with limited laydown area, the project demanded efficient sequencing and precise coordination across trades. Through a design-assist delivery approach, Wells engaged early with the design and construction team to support structural planning, system optimization, and constructability decisions as the project evolved. Prefabricated concrete risers, walls, and stair systems played a critical role in meeting schedule demands and maintaining quality. Fabricated in a quality-controlled manufacturing environment, these systems supported rapid on-site installation while delivering the durability and long-term performance required of a high-use professional sports venue.
