Renewing Campus Living

Johns and Moss Halls at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, were revitalized to provide modern, efficient, and resilient student housing while respecting the campus’s historic character. Rather than demolishing the 10-story, 50-year-old residence halls, the University chose to renew them with a high-performance, insulated facade system that met schedule, budget, and student needs.

Wells provided a solution that enabled a rapid, phased renovation, delivering two updated residence halls in just over a single academic year. The facade incorporates embedded thin brick and limestone-inspired finishes, giving the halls visual consistency and character while providing long-term durability, energy efficiency, and minimal maintenance.
