The South College Street Parking Deck at Auburn University demonstrates how strategic planning and efficient prefabrication can deliver a lasting, functional, and visually cohesive solution on a compressed timeline. The five-level, 208,000 sq ft total-precast structure provides 598 new parking spaces, replacing those displaced by the new Culinary Center while addressing the university’s expanding campus needs.

From the outset, Auburn University aimed to create more than a conventional deck. The goal was an architecturally appropriate and inspiring structure that complements the campus while providing safe, intuitive connections to the hotel, Culinary Center, and surrounding streets. To align with Auburn’s established aesthetic, the facade employs an architectural precast system with embedded thin brick and GateStone accents. Brick and sandblasted finishes were carefully matched to the adjacent Culinary Center, ensuring a cohesive tone and texture across the campus.
