Where Mission Meets Material
The University of North Florida’s Biological Sciences Building supports the school’s mission of research, teaching, and innovation. Rising from two to four levels and totaling 117,000 sq ft, the space combines functional laboratories, classrooms, and collaborative areas while expressing the university’s identity through its architecture.
Wells provided a solution that enhanced both the building’s performance and its visual character. The exterior facade integrates pre-insulated panels with engraved text reflecting the school’s mission, as well as brick inlay details that create texture and depth along primary elevations. These design features reinforce the building’s educational purpose while delivering long-term durability, energy efficiency, and minimal maintenance.
