Sustainable Strength and Style Unite

he University of North Florida’s Social Sciences Building provides a 63,000 sq ft, three-story space designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings while supporting sustainability and long-term performance. Located within a nature preserve, the building integrates thoughtfully with the campus environment and achieves LEED certification — the first at UNF to do so.

Wells provided a solution that combined durability, efficiency, and visual distinction. The insulated facade system eliminates thermal breaks, improves energy efficiency, and acts as a vapor barrier, helping maintain indoor comfort while reducing energy consumption by nearly 20%. Intricate formliners, embedded thin brick, and sandblasted finishes add texture and depth to the exterior, reflecting the university’s commitment to both aesthetics and performance.
