A High-Rise Bank Facade that Sparkles
The Bank of America tower anchors a large-scale uptown Charlotte development, transforming a former media site into a defining commercial space within the city. Rising 34 stories and totaling 1,000,000 sq ft, the LEED Gold space brings together office and retail uses while setting the architectural tone for future phases across the surrounding district.
Wells worked to create a facade that referenced the permanence of limestone while allowing for a contemporary expression at scale. Selective use of natural stone at the base established material continuity with the city context, while an off-site prefabrication strategy supported the broader vision across the tower. Through careful refinement of texture, tone, and color, the facade achieves the visual weight and craft of limestone while operating on a more efficient, flexible system.
